Wolf Kahn (b. 1927) is a German-born American artist known for his New England landscapes that blend Realism and Color Field painting. His rural scenery is rendered in saturated, fantastical color with a sense of movement and freedom that indicate the influence of his teacher, Abstract Expressionist Hans Hofmann. Kahn applied Hofmann's teachings to recognizable subject matter, landscapes he paints with luminous atmospheric qualities reminiscent of American Impressionism. Kahn's work can be found in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMa, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and many others.
