Bethesda Fine Art

Robert Indiana (born 1928) is an American artist associated with the Pop Art movement. He was born Robert Clark in Indiana. His work often consists of bold, simple, iconic images, especially numbers and short words like EAT, HUG, and his best known example, LOVE. Indiana's works are in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His iconic work LOVE was first created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, and was included on a US postal stamp in 1973.
